When Malasāra and Anāmaka (or should I say Ripunjaya) spar, it feels like the first steps on an epic journey. It just evokes that feeling of humble beginnings preparing to transform into something intense and huge--and while Ripunjaya is an exceptional individual (rather than a humble one) it sounds like he was taken and imprisoned very young, and so the "humble beginnings" still feels apt here.
